Farcet Speed Watch Scheme

Speedwatch will shortly be starting in Farcet. We will be monitoring various streets over the next months, on a rolling programme. The object of the exercise is not to penalise people, but to ensure that speed limits are adhered to for the safety of everyone. We will be very happy if we don’t catch anyone speeding!

Can I remind you that the speed limit is 30mph in all but the following streets, where the statutory limit is 20mph:
Cross St, George Alcock Way,Leeder Close, Main St, Manor Close, Middle St, St Mary’s Close, St Mary’s St, Southoe Road, and Straight Drove(70 metres from Main St

Huge thanks to our Vice Chair Cllr Chris Deards for setting up the Farcet Speed Watch scheme.

B1095 Pondersbridge Whittlesey Rd Junction

Update on the B1095 Pondersbridge Whittlesey Rd Junction South of Peterborough.
I took this issue to the Road Safety Committee (Huntingdonshire) of which I am vice chair to see how we could look to find a resolution.
We invited officers from Cambs County, Hunts DC and Peterborough City Council. The newly elected Mayor of Cambridgeshire also attended the meeting. The outcome is that we had 3 options we tabled and one of them was looked upon very favourably by the Mayor. He assured us that money will be made available to address this major traffic crisis and a business case is now being prepared.
Once the flyover at Kings Dyke is completed then the road will be even worse.

The proposed 1000 home development at RAF Upwood site will also need to use that junction if commuting to Peterborough.

Hopefully we wont have to suffer for much longer.

I have also been informed that PCC are now going to apply to the Department of Transport for funding.

A1 Junction 17 Roadworks Starts 3rd August

Essential road upgrades start next week, on Thursday 3 August.
Extra capacity is being added to junction 17 of the A1(M) and junction 1 of the A1139 Fletton Parkway to the south west of the city that will enable the expansion of the Gateway Peterborough business park.
At the same time, Cambridgeshire County Council will carry out full depth resurfacing on the A1(M) junction 17 roundabout
The work has been carefully planned in a partnership between Highways England, Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council, Gateway Peterborough’s owners Roxhill Developments and their contractors Winvic. By closely coordinating the projects and by carrying out the vast majority of the work overnight, the partnership hope to avoid any repeat of the delays caused by recent roadworks on the A1(M) in Peterborough.
The work is expected to take around five months and to be complete in November.
